Some things are definitely much better with some girth, but motorcycle grips are not one of them. LOL
Just wanted to make sure everybody saw this. Just in case there were some skimmers that missed it.
So, you thinking about that 1100 now? I have rode a couple and they are by far my favorite cruiser style bike that I have gotten a chance to ride. Maybe its time for a trade blues.

When I get ready to buy, I will add the 1100 to my list of bikes to test ride.
I will also be testing the Kawasaki 900, the Suzuki T90, and a Triumph 900. I probably won't have the $$$ for a HD.
I'm glad to see that you thoroughly read my blog entry.
I checked my calendar and saw that my bike got towed to the dealer on April 23. Tuesday May 20 and still had no word….so….Doc came by in his bike and picked me up to take me to them. I figured it would be better if they saw my face and not just talk to them on the phone.
Although I was polite, I made it clear I was not happy about the situation. He had told me to bring it in when I did and said that they would have been working on it the next week. When I called them again, they once again told me they would be working on it the following week. So I said ok; I will wait to hear from you. Well…..after 2 more weeks went by and I didn’t hear anything……anybody in the same predicament would be annoyed.
The service guy gave me a big sob story about how busy they are and that even he had to do some wrenching. Well…boo-hoo…..they shouldn’t be giving a time frame if they can’t get it done.
I told him I felt like me bike didn’t matter or that I as a loyal customer did not matter. I suggested that my bike was sitting in a corner collecting dust while other bikes were coming in and getting serviced.
He said it had been collecting dust until that day. He told me it actually on a lift being taken apart as we spoke. He said he would call me when they had it apart. That whole day went by and I didn’t hear from him. Then Wednesday went by and I didn’t hear from him.
It was late today when he finally called.
Now for the good news…..it looks like the fork shifter was damaged from the crash…..Why good news do you ask? A damaged fork shifter means the insurance company will pay for it. If it had been wear on the dogs I would have had to pay for it.
Since I am a good rider, it was highly unlikely it would have been the dogs, so I gave the go ahead to deal with the bike and gave them a guarantee that I would pay for it if it turned out to be the dogs. ::) : It’s not. ::):
I wish to thank J. Stark for sending me some information regarding fork shifters. It was because of his message to me that I was able to pursue the claim. When I took the bike in the first time, they noticed they had forgotten to install some parts. However, the parts did not solve the problem. When I took the bike back again, they did not even want to look at it. I suggested about the fork shifter or shifting linkage, but the service guy poo-pooed the idea. He said they would not even look at it unless the insurance company was willing to re-open the claim.
So….they took pictures to email the appraiser and after the appraiser has had a look and ok’s it, they will order the parts. The parts should be in next week, providing nothing is backordered.
I’m glad I went in person to see them. If they had done it when they said they were going to do it, the insurance on the bike would have still been valid and I would have been able to ride it to make sure it was ok and then parked it until I get through this rehab process.
Now the insurance is expired and I will have to buy insurance to test out my bike.
My fingers are crossed………

Doesn't that just burn your bacon when shops act like that? Mrs. Stark's new G650X has been in the shop for two weeks now... "Ummm......we're waiting for a part"......and...... "oil leak? What oil leak? We can't see a leak".... the floor of our shed is covered with oil smears from oil dropped by that bike, but somehow the shop can't seem to see the bike has a leak. Grrrr....
As for the rest. Well, I have always found crossing your fingers a very good plan of action. When it comes to insurance companies or dealers it generally works as well as anything else.
Best of luck.
Take care

It was the same story when my bike had the squeak. I took it in three times. Ffinally someone from TMW sent me some info about splines. I had to force the service guy to write "check splines in final drive" onto the work order. By having it ion the work order, the mechanic will then check.
Yep...the splines lacked grease.....it was an issue that Yamaha was having with a lot of 1100's and some 650's. The factory was cheaping out on the grease and the splines were dry.....
It shouldn't have had to come from me for them to check.....
There seems to be a lazy attitude to some shops and some mechanics.....
(Please note...I said some mechanics...not all)

The fellow I know who owns the motorcycle school treated the volunteers who helped him at the bike show to a dinner cruise last night.
It was a fine evening. Dinner was good, the DJ was funny and I think it would be safe to say everyone had a good time.
