gsxr tri selector?

#1 Unread post by mega0319 »

hi, i'm saving up for a ninja 250 as my first bike, but what is this gsxr tri selector i'm hearing about? i hear it can tone down the 600cc engine for newbs? does this matter at all? im pretty sure it still doesn't justify buying as a first bike but im still curious.

It sets the ECU to a different program. It makes it more so you can ride in the rain, still not newb friendly.

I just bought a Gixxer and it has the tri selector thing on it. A, B, and C. A mode is the default mode which has all the power and torque. B mode the throttle is a little less responsive. And C mode is a little less than B. As mgdavis said, C is a great mode to ride in the rain, but I would never recommend a 600cc sport bike to a beginner. I rode a Honda Shadow for 3 years before I got this and have over 10,000 miles in the seat and this thing still scares me.

Yeah, it tones it down, but the main point is that it still has the power. It still has the harsh brakes and steering. It still has the revvy engine. The Ninja is still much more forgiving.
