Just started to ride - bought a 1979 Honda CX 5000 this year - about a month ago actually - am taking a MSF class in July and right now practice in parking lots and ride around town ( small town low traffic volume )

Whew! You're brave. Do you have dirtbike experience or something? Almost everyone here will encourage you to park the bike and wait it out until your MSF course. Or is someone giving you pointers?

I could never have just hopped on and rode. At least, I don't think I could have.

A Honda CX 5000? I am not familiar with that, but the number makes it sound like it will be a rocket.
