No, it's that I hear less. I leave the visor on the full face helmet open all the time unless it's dark (and I'm not wearing sunglasses) or I'm traveling at over 40-45 mph.

The fact is that with the full face, my ears are pressed into about an inch and a half of insulation, foam, and hard plastic. That's a lot of signal attenuation.

I can hear much, much less with the full face. End of.

I have always wore a full faced helmet. I just always felt like it was safer. I have never even tried on anything else. I ride a cruiser style bike with it too. I think it boils down to personal preference. People will do what they want no matter. I mean come on, some people still don't wear seat belts.

By the way, I have about 1600 miles on my full face and 3900 miles on my shorty.

All 1600 miles of the full face have been in the last 3 months (plus a month or so last fall).

I like my head and face the way they are, so full face for me. I've worn 3/4, and while the one I wore did give better sound, the vision was about the same. The downside of the louder sound at city speeds; unforgivably loud at highway speeds.

No offence, but I can't understand this mentality...

If I was to wear a T-shirt on the bike, I would also go for the half helmet. The reason for this is, if I went down, I'd want to have the greater chance of being unconsious, and still survive, so I wouldn't feel the pain due to the loss of surface area... (and I have a lot of that)

Having that full face on means I want to save my skin, so I dress appropriately when I ride...

I think you are saying that you only put your visor up if you are wearing sunglasses. Is that right? In case it isn't I've read that air pressure from continuous travelling at anything over 6mph (yep, 6mph!) damages unprotected eyes. I understand that cyclists and even runners frequently suffer from eye damage in later life.

I will need to check this out, as it was something I read casually and can't remember where.

Will come back if I find anything.

As far as wearing a full-faced lid is concerned, this is a little souvenir I kept from when I crashed my SV650

This makes no sense. You are saying it's all or nothing?? Full gear top to bottom is best; but half way is always bottom than nothing. Skin heals. Brain damage is forever.

A see a lot of dirt riders riding in the trails in short sleeves in the heat of summer. However you will never ever see one without a full face motocross helmet. Ever!
