Thinking of asking a stealership for a direct trade

#1 Unread post by Ninja Geoff »

That's right. I'm getting rid of my ninja. One way or another, I WILL have a KLR (don't hate me). There's a 2006 for $4,000 with under 5k miles at a dealer nearish to here, thinking of offering them a direct trade. They probably won't take it, but it's worth a shot if the bike doesn't sell soon. They also have a 2004 with something like 12,000 miles on it. They want $3,000 for it. If I can sell the Ninja soon, that's the one I'll be getting, assuming they still have it.

Is it really really stupid of me to want to direct trade with them, my 06 for theirs?

No, as long as you understand that the numbers have to work in their favour. Nothing wrong with that, businesses don't run as charities and thats fair.

As long as your happy go for it. Enjoy the KLR! :righton:

Just don't sell the ninja and buy some more crap for your Subaru. We might have to banish you from the forums if you do that.
I've already been thinking about starting a "ban Geoff petition" for having that sig. So don't push it.

x2, remember the dealer will always come out ahead, otherwise they'd be out of business.

well... If I got cash for the Ninja, I could buy an ej207 motor and swap it in myself and then save up for the wiring harness swap -- er, yeah, I won't spend any more on the subie.

I'm really curious to know what your impressions are of the KLR. I've thought about that for a second bike quite a bit. Will you use it primarily on the street?
