I just went by the registries office in town today.
The penalties in Alberta are:
If you are caught unescorted it is a $200 fine and 2 demerits.
If you are caught riding after sunset it is a $100 fine and 2 demerits.
This is for the GDL program, which I don't know if you fall under but I imagine the penalties are the same either way.
