During full service, I stay on the bike and have the attendants fill.

If it is self serve, the bike is on the side stand.

No center stand :(

you get more gas in your bike when its on the side stand than when its upright. At least mine is that way.

With the BMW s I put on center stand, same with the little Hondas and Vespa. The Gold Wing is too hard to get off center stand. (I use neither with the FLH, but it is hacked) None of my other bikes have a center stand. All of my bikes will get more gas on center stand, the exception to this would be the Sporty with Mustang tank that has cap on right side.

that dont make sense considering the shape of the gas tank on most bikes (you honda and FLH excluded) With the tank cap in the center and the bike upright there is less area the gas can get into because of air. with it on the side stand there is more because you take alot of that unreachable area and put it in the top corner of the gas tank instead of both corners.

Yeah, we take advantage of it. Full is the norm here.

Even at a full service station, I fill my own bike. It's on the side stand.

Sitting on the bike - its the only way I can see down the very narrow filler on the Bonneville. If I relied on the automatic shutoff, I'd be a half-gallon low all the time.

My bike has an underseat tank and the filler to the right of the seat, so side stand it is.
