OMG, aren't you cold?

What the "fudge" do you think? It's 32 degrees, of course I'm "procreating" cold. And no, it isn't too cold to ride, what the "fudge" do you think that thing is parked behind me, a huffy?

Most likely annoyance at being asked the same stupid question at least 5 to 10 times a day. "Aren't you cold riding this time of year" or variations of the same. Depending on who is asking, I answer for women, the standard is "No darling, I am a very warm blooded lad, like me to slip into your bed to night and prove it?" For guys, its usually along the lines of ""pee" off or get bent."
Always ask why.

I just posted this on the other thread. The funny thing is regular folk don't know that riding gear does a lot to keep us protected from the elements. When I take off my helmet that is the only time I feel cold, back on the road I'm pretty toasty and without any heated grips or seat warmers. We did without it in cars back in the day and we just keep getting wussified the more tech we cram into vehicles.
One thing you can count on: You push a man too far, and sooner or later he'll start pushing back.

Bingo. Rather than tell a person (who even says they ride, wtf) to go "fudge" themselves or to run into traffic, I vented here.

lol im waiting for my bike to get repaired so I can ride the bike back home. to be honest yes I am warm in my gear (right now i would be warmer riding the bike than the van cause I cant figure out why its only warm air instead of hot now in the van. i think the thermistat got broke when i replaced the heater core) but I hate getting out in winter. I am tired of being cold. but because of the economy I have no option but to stay and stay working where I am.

I've got to admit I wimped this morning. Yesterday I had an excuse, it was snowing, but this morning is clear and sunny and the roads are dry. 31 miles of 28 degrees and 20mph winds is just too much for this 52 year old body, winter gear or not! At some point it stops being fun, if it's not fun, why do it?

You poor old sod.

Have to admit, there have been times this autumn that I came close to reconsidering my plan to ride year round and do without a cage......usually when its pee'ing down and it takes me 10 minute to gear up in full foul weather gear.......However, fully kitted up with the rain jacket on as a wind breaker I've stayed toast warm.....look like a rolling snowman mind you but toasty warm.
Always ask why.
