misfiring at low rpm's

#1 Unread post by international56 »

i have a 85 honda shadow vt1100c that sounds like misfiring at around 2000 rpm's. i just bought this bike and not sure how long it had been just sitting so i have gone through a couple tanks of fresh gas and now i am trying shock treatment to run through the carbs. it seems to be getting better as i drive it but still has that dead spot and a slight hesitation from 2000-2400 rpm's. best way to decribe the misfire is, sounds like the carbs are sneezing. Please, if any ideas, let me know.....thanks

Take the carbs off and clean them.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.
