need help

i have a 84 honda vf700 intersepter that wont start it has spark it will crank over nice if i sray starting fluid in it it will try to to start and back firer but it just wont start what can i do to this bike to git it going

Sounds like the carbs need a good cleaning and syncing. Get a manual for your bike.

I'm voting for checking your carbs and valves...
Is it backfiring? As in fire coming back through the carbs? Or is it afterburning, which is lighting in the exhaust pipe?
If it's backfiring check your valves first, chances are they're out of spec.
If it's afterburning, I vote checking your carbs.

i once cleaned/synced a set of carbs 4 times before i replaced the plugs and it fired right up. they're cheap. do it.
