How much is too Much for a Beginner???

Mountain biking won't carry over a lot compared to motorcycling. Things are just two different. 20lbs compared to 400, your front brake is now on the left.... You cannot adjust the preload by moving yourself around anymore...
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.
