Well, I missed the demo rides at my local dealer and won't get another chance until October. Anyone who has ridden any of the '08 lineup, I'm interested in hearing your thoughts and opinions on them!

No chance yet, but I'll post my opinions when I do.
I don't normally have to wait too long...with several dealers in the area, there's usually a demo-ride going on every month or two.

I had a chance to get out on an '08 Night-Rod and I'm still grinning. It's too bad about the 240 rear tire because with something a little more reasonable the bike would be a lot more capable in the corners. Beyond that, it's hard to argue against how well these bikes work no matter what kind of bike you regularily ride.

It wold be my bike of choice if I was to buy a cruiser.

Me too, the Night-Rod special is way cool as a Poser/Tourer/Cruiser.

But for handling ya canna beat a Street-Rod!

Funny, but there are still plenty around the States in some showrooms brand new.

Even a few here in OZ.

They were essentially a FLOP, so if you want one you can dig them up at a great price.

I'll never sell mine, it's just too much fun, especially when you flog another brand of bike in the corners! Ha ha ha ha ha!!!

Alice Springs Aust. 09 Demo Day (I shoulda stayed in BED!!)

  • Quote

#10 Post by CentralOzzy » Sat Feb 07, 2009 8:40 pm

Well it was Demo Day for 09 Models here in Central OZ! 8)

Last year I had a 'Ball' at the demo day, 3 mates & I went there & chose 4 bikes, then went out of town for a blast, swapping bikes every now & then with the others different models, sooo much fun & for FREE!!

This year however was a very different affair.

Firstly the rules have all changed.

Gone are the days of having 'FUN' with your mates like last time.

"That's right Pal, you wanna ride a new 09 Harley? then you'd better get with the program or "pee" off!"

From now on, you have to ride in a group & follow a guy from the dealer in a bright orange/red vest just in case you almost crash into his painfully slow behind.
Funny, I was on a new Buell V-Twin & didn't get over 60KPH/37MPH!!! YEAH!!! That's fun isn't it? Riding through Saturday Traffic & around the industrial side of town, when we have a 40 Kay 'LOOP' of road (Favoured by all local motorcyclists) right at the dealers finger tips! Yes, all we had to do was turn right into the highway out to the 'LOOP' & experience some outback, traffic-less riding which includes fast sweeping corners, smooth straights & a few windies as well.....but OoooH NO.....we had to turn left & wander through the streets & stop at Traffic lights in 38C Temps....wow, now we'll all go & buy these new bikes since we all know just how much fun they are to ride in the traffic....right?

Tell me Mr Dealer, how the Hec can anyone ascertain the strengths & weaknesses of a new model Cruiser (& Buell Race machine) in Saturday traffic!?

What a travesty!

OK, OK, I can hear some of you say...."Hey Winger, what do you want for free eh!?" -
What I really want, is to go cruising on a Cruiser & Fast on a racing style bike to TEST it out, not ride in a gaggle of learner riders struggling to keep up with the leader, who is almost riding in reverse (While keeping up his poser Hog-la-dite image) & stopping for an eternity at intersections while the mêlée behind, attempts to 'catch the Leader'....no friggin way!!

OK, so 'H-D Australia' says we have to go on a set route from now on, fair enough, but who selected "The Town option?" I WILL FIND OUT! & when I do......Yeah that's right.....I'll write a letter to the boss &....nothing will happen & we'll have no choice but to repeat it again next year.

Except I will be doing something else that morning, like riding my Street-Rod.....Over 60 KPH!!
