My RT is great, but if I could do it all over, there is a guy in NC selling a R1200C with an esily removed/eplaced side car.

Gorgeous and dual purpose. WHat a hoot.

But on the other hand, hubby is seriously thinking about getting one. He's in the market to upgrade from his '94 R1100RS.

Mostly, it is much LIGHTER than the 1150, with the new alloys, and plastic gas tank (mine's steel). And as a result much more responsive and smooooth. Less 'wiggle' than on previous boxers. There's a 'balancing weight' of some sort that dampens the side to side wiggle at throttle on.

The newer BMWs do not have all the slick design features, like semi-integrated brake fluid reservoirs. The 1200s have those mundane little round cannisters like on every UJM.

On my bike, they're kinda built into the handgrip. Looks spiffy, but doesn't improve performance at all.

P
I agree with all of that. The R1150R to my eyes are much better looking than the R1200R. However, I have heard pretty much unanimously that if you take a ride in the R1200R, you will have to trade in the R1150R. It's that good.

I got my R1150R in 2001, before the Rockster came out. It was one of the very first one in the US. Had the Rockster been out at the time, I would have seriously considered it.

Then there's the huge price increase on the R12......
