Has Anyone Used the Gerbing "Lite" Vest?

That's the one with the battery pack. For a variety of reasons, this seems more appealing to me than a wired one (e.g., I already have wired gloves and a GPS hooked directly to the battery, and am worried up reaching the upper range). Also, it would be nice to use the vest off the bike. My concern is how much heat it actually makes.

I don't know if DrBar's vest is Gerbing or not....he got a vest that has a battery pack and it feels somewhat like neoprene inside.....he loves it.

I have the "EXO" Storm Rider body heater, it draws 4.1 amps on high. The storm walker jacket and vest both draw only 0.6 amps, but I don't think they heat as well as mine, they all have an optional battery pack to use for portability. found on page 351 of the 2009 motovan fashion catalog

By the way, I've ridden twice now with the Gerbring and really like it. It wasn't bone chillingly cold--upper 30s and 40s. But I had been riding with two base layers, a sweater or fleece, and my heavy jacket. With the vest, I could take off the sweater or fleece. I liked feeling less bundled. I rode for about 4 hours with the vest set on "3" out of 9, and it only used about 1/5 of the battery charge. I'm pretty happy with it. I guess it wouldn't be optimized for really long rides in the 20s or below, but works well for short rides and temperatures in the 30s and 40s.

I hope you remembered to wear the vest with only one layer underneath it, the optimum performance should be with just a t-shirt between you and the vest...

Yep. It actually worked better with a sports base layer like Under Armor rather than a cotton tee shirt.

If you really want to get the most out of it get a fish net T, this T works really good in the summer also under a jacket.
