Cleaned Engine Clear Coat Next?

I just completed cleaning the engine on a 1980 Yamaha 400GS. The Aluminum looks great...in fact I'm thinking of just leaving it as is. Except,
should I apply a clear coat (rated for 500 degrees) so that I can clean a little easier the next time? Is the application of a clear coat worth it? I'm not keen on painting the engine.

Badge i would think about it i've tried it on a couple of harley parts and it turns shady quick good metal polish works good and holds up fine if ya keep it clean
