Motorcycles

#1 Unread post by XB08 »

It is easy to say this motorcycle is crap and this one is the best, But we all ride the one we like and if you could really say what you like about it.(without put down other bikes). I know there are a lot of riders would pick there bikes for what it looks like or what it makes them look like. Well here is why I pick mine.

Lite weight, A very useable power band for me. Handles great, Did not cost a arm and a leg. It has good power.

Well that's why I pick mine, is there others that I like . YES. But I weight the pro's and con's of each mine was for me.

So why did you get yours.

So lets see,,, should I explain why I got a 750 Nighthawk or my ST1100 or maybe my Shadow1100T with a sidecar, each one has it's place, I use the Nighthawk for my work transport my ST1100 for the long fast trips and my sidecar rig for cruisin, I'm much more laid back when I ride the sidecar but I do take it on long trips, last year it was to Taos NM and back to Wa. about 3800 mi, the ST has been to a lot of States but it's a road and mile burner 300 mi before I have to fill up, so each one has it's place depending on what I want to do and who to do it with and right now I have PMS,,,,Parked Motorcycle Syndrome and we just got 2 more inches of snow with 20" on the ground :(

Shadow1100T I feel your pain been there done that. Luckly it's been warm lately and this weekend it was in the 60's, so I was lucky to go for a ride. It was a tease though. Rain, sleet and possibility of 3 inch's of snow tommorrow. I CANN'T TAKE MUCH OF THIS WHITE STUFF. All I can say is nicer weather is coming

I have to say , there is no bad bike or good bike. Just the ones you like.

I am looking for a 2nd bike, I think I want something older.

Why did I pick the bike I picked?

1) I knew I wanted a cruiser or naked.
2) Had to keep it under a certain price, and I wanted a new bike, not used.
3) It was to be my first bike, so I didn't want something too tweaky. I wanted reliability.
4) I narrowed it to three: V Star, Shadow, Boulevard C50.

So I sat on all three at a dealership. That knocked out the V Star - bad ergonomics for my body frame.

I went with the C50 in the end. All the reviews I read of it were strong, and I just liked the look of it more than the Shadow, which is still a nice bike. And I got a good price from the dealer (paid $15 for a Dealer Invoice Report, which saved me hundreds). Two years later I'm very very happy with the choice. Added a light bar, gel seat, driver backrest, pullback risers, highway bars, this and that.

Also bought a used, beat up, 2000 Rebel for the wife to learn on. Main selling point to her was the pair of old handcuffs permanently locked onto the sissy bar.

It'll tell you what the dealer paid, what the legitimate charges on top of that are, what the BS charges that they'll try to tack on are, and how much profit it's reasonable for the dealer to make. $15 for a report. Walk into the dealership with a print-out so they know you've done your research.

My wife goes to Harvard Business School and she just had some assignment reading an in-depth study of auto dealerships and pricing. A lot of interesting stuff in there, but one important point is that a customer who walks in with a Consumer Reports under his arm almost always get a better price.

So it's important not only to do your research, but to let the dealer know you have.

They get around this by offering rebates to the dealers that do not show up on the invoice. This is often the margin that they work with.

Not sure I know what you mean. Who's the "they"? Who offers rebates? No actual dealers are named in the reports. Only bike manufactures, and the general numbers. So I'm not sure what you're saying.
