I have a Mustang back rest. Love it. Before that, I had a aftermarket one and that was fantastic also. I am 70 years old and have a pinched nerve between L4 and L5.
I always look at them as a waste. When I ride I either am going a shotr distance or have enough stuff to tye on as to use as a backrest. Kinda like the bag in above post by MZ33 except I still use a GI duffel. I've been eyeballing those for years but my old stuff still works and I have more of it than I have storage.

i got it on my m109 sure you can ride for long ride with no pack pain

I ride a Victory Vision now after years of Harleys and i put a Utopia Backrest on. Best thing is i can adjust while riding, most miles in a day was a month ago on the way back from South Dakota, 1163....love my backrest.
