On mine, I use a local mechanic who knows these old machines....and he really hates fiddling with their carbs and cabling coz they're so hard to get at and adjust properly.KNIGHTHAWK wrote:How do you change the throttle cables on a 1984 honda sabre vf700s?

Do you have a manual for your bike? All your service questions will be answered within.
The dealy on the handlebar, you twist for go, is the throttle assembly. There should be two cables going to it. those cables connect to a mechanism in between the carburetors that opens and closes the carburetors. Remove the gas tank, disassemble the throttle assembly, remove the broken cable part, remove the same cable from the mechanism in between the carburetors, pull the old cable out as you push the new cable in so you follow the same path, reattach both ends and rock and roll.

People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

No I don't have a manual yet. I've been googlein to find one free online but haven't found any yet. I had to replace the throttle grip cause it broke where the 2 cables hook into but i need to disconnect one to get them both in plus I need to see if they are opening up the carbs cause all it does is turn over but won't fire like its not gettin gas.
