I can get the bike started but when I give it gas the throttle cable doesn't move anything in the carb. The cable moves I really wondering if anybody has any pics on how it hooks up between the two carbs. B/c I have never seen how it works down there, i'm a beginner at bikes. Worked on cars but not two many bikes.
wish i could help, but all i know is how the throttle cable hooks up to my 79 scout. don't think that 345 is the same as your 350, but it should be the same basic mechanics involved.
if they do work the same, though, you should see something that looks like a lever or an arm on one side of the carbs that has a small hole in it. your throttle cable should have a small S-bend in it towards the end that threads through that hole and then moves the arm to adjust how much fuel the carb is sending through to the engine.
no matter how it works, though, the cable has to attach to something so you can just look at the end of the cable and see if there's any clue as to how it would attach and look for its mate on the side of the carb. sort of reverse engineering, in a way. if there's a loop at the end of the cable, then there might be a screw that connects it to the carb, but that would probably rattle loose over time so it's most likely the S-bend at the end of the cable.
if there is an S-bend and you can't find anything it attaches to, head down to your local auto parts store and ask the guys there if you can look at a carb and they can show you where the throttle cable would connect to give you an idea of what it should look like. hope that helped some, even if it probably was a bit lengthy.
I know the feeling, I had that trouble for a while to, found it the screw that holds the linkage wires to the carb fell out and they pulled out of the pulley over time. Anyhoo, here is an exploded diagram for the 360 carb. Note in the upper right hand corner of the diagram there is a small pulley, that is what you are supposed to hook the linkage wires too. When you look at yours, it will be between the two carbs and will be brass. You might have to pull the airbox on the right side off to get the wires back on, well, you will have to pull the airbox off. The wires should have some round pegs on the ends of them that slide into holes in the pulley. It'll take some trial and error but you should be able to get them hooked back up. Also, note that there is a brass "wire holder" on the wires, make sure that is screwed to the inside of the left carb, otherwise your wires go all willy nilly and will come undone again. Hope it works out for you!
Well I went out there and Looks to me something is broke or maybe that screw you were talking about. But I could not see that good in there. What do you think is the best way to get in there? Do I have to take out the carbs, or just the air box to get in there? And I got gas coming out of that same side carbs overflow tube any idea why? I thought it was the floats , but have not pulled the bottom to see if the floats a sticking yet. Any help I really need it thanks a lot!!!!!!!
Yeah, you might want to pull the whole carb assembly. If that screw is broken you can get a new one at lowes or something, it is a 5mm x 1.2cm. You'll have to pull the airbox off, I usually work from the right side as that is the side that has the screw to hold the linkage wires, so pull off the right side airbox, disconnect the carbs from both airboxes, and then from the intake manifolds. The best way to see if that screw is in there is to try to look from the front-right above the carbs. You'll have to find a way to disconnect the linkages from the pulley. Then drop the carbs down "hinging" them from the intake manifolds, then pull them out which will take some wiggling. Then just put it back in the way you took it out. You might want to look at getting a shop manual, this one is awesome as it is an actual honda manual.
