People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.
Always wear a helmet, eye protection, and protective clothing. Never ride under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
One of my bikes has ABS but no linked brakes, the other one has ABS and partially linked brakes (use the front brake lever and the rear's also get activated, use the rear brake pedal and it doesn't affect the front brakes). Like a lot of other people who've responded, I don't really appreciate the linked brakes and still keep the habit of using both hand and foot controls, and modulating both as necessary. Don't wanna spoil myself; I don't want my next bike to have linked brakes anyway.
"If you ride like there's no tomorrow, there won't be."
Most of the systems that I have seen, the rear brake pedal controls the back brake pedal and one of the front rotors. The handlebar controls only the front brakes. I guess a great boost to those riders that don't feel safe with thier breaking skills. CBS is especially prevalent with some tourers who spend big bills on thier bikes but who don't ride them much except for club rides. IMHO, they are not a good thing for there is a lot of times that you need to modulate your braking with different bias between front and rear.
As for ABS, I sort of have a different perspective. ABS is a wonderfull thing when the bike is upright. ABS doesn't do so well when the bike is leaning over like in a corner. It also has a problem with gravel, marbles or seriously broken pavement. This has been my experience though if it helps those who have limited braking skills more power to it. It really seems to help when the front forks are compressed because of extreme braking. However, don't it to act like it does in cars and trucks.
Of course, what do I know I ride Harleys. They come with brakes that don't lock up the wheels and come stock with the bike.

It's good spelling but it Wobbles, and the letters get in the wrong places. WtPooh
