there's a guy here in Tucson selling one. saw it on Craigslist and was interested in it. any thoughts?

did a little google research on it and it seems like a very solid bike despite the fact they only made the Madura for 2 years. was reading one of the owner's websites i'd found. it's actually a really nice looking bike, i'm just concerned because it's under 11k miles for an 85. owner says it fires right up and runs fine, though, so i don't know.

Can't hurt to go take a look at it!
Make sure to check for drops, listen closely for overly loud valve ticks, check the oil either in the sight glass or on the dipstick, make sure the chain is good... stuff like that.

yeah, gonna go look at it this morning. from what i was able to find online, they're pretty solid bikes. just worried because it's got less than 11k miles on it.

he says it runs fine and is ready to go anywhere and that he just has too many bikes, so hopefully he's done the regular maintenance and kept it from sitting for too long. we'll see.

between him and his brother (they live together), the guy had prolly 15 bikes at his house--this Madura was one of a half dozen in running order. he had a list a mile long of regular and preventative maintenance he'd done and the thing runs like a top.

he really did just have too many bikes, and apparently my grandma had 3000 too many dollars cuz she bought it for me since i didn't have the money right now and was gonna thank him for his time but pass it up.

will get pics posted as soon as i can. it's sitting at a friend's house until i get it registered and plated, should be either this week or next and then i can start getting used to a 1200 instead of my 250 ninja.

still riding the 250, need more miles/experience and need to feel more comfortable on the 1200 before i take it out in traffic. been doing some stop and goes and slow turns on it the last couple days, but still twichy with the clutch and throttle.

hope to be riding it soon, though, so i can start doing what i love--long trips.

it's a good bike, to be honest. a lot of fun to ride because it's so light and nimble, i just want something more substantial for longer rides.

would really like to keep them both but i think my neighbors want to keep my presence in their driveway to a minimum so one of them will end up going and that'll be the 250. already had a few people express an interest in it when i decide to sell it, so that won't be a problem, but i'm sure i'll miss taking it out for quick jaunts around town.
