I've gotten to a point where chaps are a must even when the guys are wearing shorts and a Tshirt. I kind of like my bod. It works so much better in one piece.

I like my rear areas and want to keep them attached. If your talking about comfort, then I see no difference in wearing chaps or not. If your talking safety then it's obvious. If your talking about Harleys in general, they're all pretty comfy, though some people need a bit more in certain areas and choose other bikes. My friend loves his Electa Glide just for that reason.

However, if your getting personal, I think I have a nice "butt"and it sort of fits the rest of me.

After I got several messages, I think I know what you were asking.

The problem is one of protection and where do I want the most.

Leather Pants are too hot to wear all the time. Chaps give me the advantage that the jeans I wear are cooler. The main problem is things come up from the road and heavy riding boots with shin protection are more important here. Yea, I know there basically hd cowboy boots instead of the armored ones that the sport bikers wear. But anyway, chaps are ususally heavier (mine are) than the average leather pants. And I don't like the armored mesh pants, more because of fashion than any real reason. I also don't fit into normal women's pants sizes. I have long legs that seems to confuse most apparel manufacturers. (for that matter, clothing makers too)

I've only laid my bike down a couple of times at speed and both times I rolled up to protect my hand/arms and legs which are the scariest things for me to take damage in an accident.. I didn't slide on my backside like so many have claimed. I guess I've just made an adjustment to wearing chaps. Most of the Sport bikers I know will actually try to slide on their back to protect their arms and legs.

However, most motorcycle accidents I've seen the head was the part that took the most damage. Next came the arms and legs. And finally the rear areas. Most people seem to be thrown from their bikes head first and what ever touched the tarmac next was what they tore up.

Oh so this is the thread you PM'd me about. No worries, I have a thick skin. Yes, I meant for protection. I may be a woman but I also married one (go MA!)

I tend to wear men's gear because I can buy what I want by measurement. I gave up caring about fashion on a bike. I have a full mesh suit for summer riding and I wear shorts and a t shirt underneath it, and take flip flops with me in my top case. Who cares if people see my mesh on the bike, I can take that off pretty darn quick when I get off of the bike!

That being said, my wife cares quite a bit about fashion and is very picky about gear. I'm very picky about her being protected. She's still managed to find some pretty cute clothes over time..but it's taken quite a while to find them.

I won't give ya crap about wearing chaps - I think there are better options out there that are a lot cooler for summer riding, but as long as you still wear it and feel good about it, more power to ya.

Now thoroughly confused but it's all cool. Though I think we maybe a lot closer than I thought. Yeah, I didn't need to worry in the first place. Gurls Rule!

My partner is a nurse and is frightened of motorcycles because she works in an ER. But when we do ride rogether, she has to be dressed just right. She wears full armor and brings a change of clothes. Of course she doesn't ride that much when it's too cold or too hot and in Texas, it means less than a month of days that are acceptable. Guess that is always the way.
