2007 V-Star Running Rough !!

#1 Unread post by djspring »

Here is my first post:

viewtopic.php?t=33717

In short, it's running rough (not as smooth as I think it should).

Thanks!

p.s. I just put in 89 octaine gas (previously used 87). I'm hoping this will make a difference.

Can't say much based on the limited and vague info in your other post, but it sounds fishy.

First thing is take it to another shop and have them explain in detail what the problem and solution are. Write down what they say if you have to in order to remember. Then you can ask some one else if it sounds right later.

The (admittedly little) research I have done on your bike says it is not fuel injected, but carbed. Modifying the fuel delivery is a vastly different prospect between the two..... if that is the problem.
No Witnesses.... :shifty:

This was a local bike shop that fixes just about everthing. So I guess I will take it to the Yamaha dealer to see what they have to say.

Thanks for your input ~

Yeah a V-Star 650 ought to be able to get up to 60 in a hurry and top out around 90.
What exactly does it do? Idle rough? Bog badly on takeoff? Give us the symptoms and we'll try to diagnose what's going on for you...

650 are carborated.....
if youre having issues
run some SEAFOAM through your gas tank- 1 oz. per gallon.
from there, synch your carbs--you can make a home made synch tool
finally check out a yamaa 650 forum.
google ( 650, C,C&D) and you should be able to get the link to the DELPHI forum.
its active and people know what theyre talking bout there...
