Handle Bar Grip removal

#1 Unread post by Chemical Duke »

Got a 06 Honda Shadow Spirit 750. I'm trying to replace the grips and can't get them off. Got any ideas or how to's?

I used a knife to cut the old ones off. I mix a small amount of dish soap with water, coat the inside of the new grip and the handlebar with the soap solution and slide them on.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

Gas works too providing you have a metal, not plastic, throttle sleeve.

I've used everything from spray paint, to WD to hairspray to compressed air to put new grips on. I only use grip glue or spray adhesive anymore. One badly timed landing from a double jump years ago left me 20 feet from the bike with a helmet full of dirt and holding the left grip in my hand. And a temporary limp....

I know I'll never put that kinda strain on a streetbike grip, but once was enough. I glue them on.

Never heard of using gas before, but I never had anything but a plastic throttle tube either......
No Witnesses.... :shifty:

If you have a air compressor and a blow gun with needle valve, you can just blow air into the grip, on the end, and the darn thing flies off the handlebar.
