If you can find/afford the BMW (including fixing it) then that's my vote. Or the FZ6.

good thing i wasn't eating or drinking anything. this cracked me up.

what bike to get? i don't know. but you mention one of your choices being an fz6. i have one and love it. when kept under about 6-7k it is a perfect bike for around town and commuting. but once that baby hits about 8k it becomes a completely different bike. i think it's a very comfortable sitting bike. it's almost a do everything bike.

the only downfalls i see on it are...
most people complain about the stock seat. i've never had a stock seat on mine so i don't know.
the clutch is pretty much all or nothing. and it's all at the end. there is no gradual let out. it took me a little while to get used to.
the throttle could come on a little more smoothly than it does. from what i understand, they remapped them in 07 and this issue is better (i have and 06).

things i've done to make the bike more me...
my bike has an engine guard on it. i have added highway pegs. these are very nice for a change in position for any length trip.
i have 1" up and back risers to help my short arms.
i have a NICE seat.
i put on a givi rack and top case (i work on a college campus and my book bag is my office... i wanted a place to put it).
i've added handguards to keep my hands warmer when i ride in the winter months.

the great thing about the fz6 is i have pretty much turned mine into a "cruiser/sport-tourer" while other guys on the fz6 forum have put on rear sets, clip-ons and taken the fairing off for an aggressive naked sport bike. it can really become just about anything you want it to be.

hope that helps some. wish i had real life experience with the other bikes to be able to give advice. but since i don't, i won't.
