My truck does it in about 3.9-4.3. And top speed isnt that high because of the motor I have in it. Because the motor I have in it now I only like turning it to 5 Grand which is about 140, and when I put the 383 Stroker in it I can turn it 8000 which is about 180+. No way in hell I would take the truck to that speed but with the gear in it, its capable of doing it. And I know bikes are fast I ran a 600 the other day.

I am a noob. I took the MSF course in June and just got my first street bike about 10 days ago (09 HD Iron 883). I could not imagine starting out on something like that. I think those bikes have 2x the HP as my bike.

First, if you have not taken the MSF course, it really is a must (should be a requirement), as most people that do not ride do not understand how to turn a bike properly.

I also rode dirt bikes a s a kid and owned an Enduro for a few years. Riding on the street is a whole different beast. you literally have to expect people to not see you. I have loud "O Ring" pipes, and still have come upon situations where they did not hear or see me. I have been riding for 10 days on the road and have encountered several situations already, and I do not speed on my bike, never been over 70 mph. You have to be prepared at all times and know the capabilities of what you are riding.

I actually spent my first 3-4 days driving around my little town (1200 people) pretending to put myself in ceratian situations (acting as if a car pulled out in front of me, doing a quick controlled stop). You must know the capabilites of your bike ( I am still learning).

Good luck, but take some advice from another new rider, if it has to be a sport bike, try 250 or 500 first. You will enjoy it more. Riding scared is no fun.

Ive riden in town and in busy traffic on a cycle. I had a 169cc bike that would hit 55 or 60. And that was with knobby tires and only back brakes so I know about counter steering blah blah clutch an balance. Riding is not hard by any means. Im just gunna stick to 4 wheels, got a new motor going in my truck that should put me in the high 9s or low 10s at around 130 or 40. So I get to go as fast as I would of on a bike an still have the saftey of metal around me. And with the money Im saving on not having to make payments an insurance Ill be able to run 112 Oct.

Only time to read some of these posts. Great response.
Riding for over 35 years. Started on the farm on some sort of 80cc trail bike. Ridden just about everything since, now have a SV650S. My sport tourer cause I'm a funny shape (minimal legs and long body) and it fits good.
After this many years I still probably only drive that thing to about 70% of what it is capable of. Still enough for thrills and to scare the crap out of me.
I went to a mini road race club last night and am now considering buying a 125. These experienced adult racers drove those bikes at 100%. Maybe a top speed of only 50mph but they did it everywhere on the track.
Maybe once you can do what these guys did on 125's, you then earn a ride on a rocketship.
