Sadly, it isn't always the cager at fault. As an MSF instructor, I can honestly say I've seen a decrease in the caliber of our students over the past few years when gas prices were high & motorcycles became cost-efficient modes of transportation, and not just toys.bandit600 wrote:I suspect the increasing number of doohickies to play with (cell phones, Blackberries, iPods...) is contributing to the overall rise of crappy drivers. I get so mad when I'm on the freeway and I'm not even exaggerating 50% of people have some sort of device that they are either using or fiddling with.
It doesn't even have to be electronic!! I saw a guy on Rt 66 going into DC the other day in traffic reading a newspaper.
It's always hard to hear of another rider going down for good. Thoughts and prayers going out to the family...
And, despite our best efforts, morons do pass the class and become legal on 2 wheels...
Not saying that's the case here, but...sometimes us m/c folks do dumb dodo too. (And I'm guilty of it, too. I'm typing w/ a broken hand cuz I did something dumb on a m/c. Fortunately on the track & not in traffic, but dumb nonetheless.)
