Vancouver Charity Rides

Well, it's getting close to that season again, when all the hibernating bikes and riders start to shake off the dust and start riding again. This year I plan on attending the Ride For Dad again, but haven't decided yet whether to do the Vancouver ride or the one on Vancouver Island. Last years Vancouver ride was a bit of a disappointment with the route change, so I am seriously thinking on doing the Island ride for a change of pace. Might even catch the Kelowna ride if I get the chance.

Another good charity ride is the Vancouver Firefighers Burn Run, a small event that attracts more of the sport bike crowd. Went on it last year and had a blast. Rode from Vancouver to Harrison, nice. Funds collected go to the Vancouver Firefighters Burn Fund which sends kids who have been burned to summer camp. A good cause.

Anyone planning on attending any of these rides or rides in their local communities?
Always ask why.

I'm planning on the local version of the "Ride for Dad" Seeing how there was a falling out with the National program, the local organizers are doing their own thing.

The burn run is a possibility as well as the local toy runs...

So I heard while attending the bike show. Seems contrary to what we were told, not all the money collected is staying in the area, or at least that is the rumour.

I wasn't overly impressed with last years ride, way too much city and not enough open road, the year before though longer was much better. That's why I think I will go on the Island run this year since they are being held on the same day. Make a change of pace and the Island is a great place to ride once you are out of Victoria. Plan on catching the early Ferry, and make a day of it. With luck I can catch one of the Spirit boats back and gorge on the buffet.
Always ask why.

For me it will depend on whether my shift at work changes and I get my weekends off again.

I'd like to be able to participate.
