Yup, got that part. I still had a problem with getting enough slack. Yesterday I read a few postings that mentioned a pivot bolt. Confirmed this with a mechanic at work.
After reading you're reply, which was very helpful by the way because it sounded so simple and that told me I was making the task more difficult than it was. I removed the pivot bolt and the lever followed. Now I had enough slack to release the ball-end from the lever. I had just one more hurdle because I'm not familiar with cables in general. It took me a couple of minutes to figure out that I could grab the plastic sleeve, cable and all, and pull that out from something I guess that's called the adjuster bolt and lock nut. Once I realized that then it was a simple matter of getting the slots lined up again and out came the cable. Added enough drops of lube until it dampened the rag at the other end.
