I gotta admit i had never heard of someone riding a motorcycle wearing earplugs before. But after seeing many people on here talk about hearing loss, rigning ears and such, i decided to try it since i was having issues with wind noise in my helmet. Its a Fulmer (not sure of the model) open face with a shield. (yeah yeah, not a full face, i know....lol) WOW what a difference the plugs made on the wind. Hardly any wind noise at all and didnt affect my hearing other noises. Thanks for the great tip.

same topic came up on the fz6 forum i'm on. two pretty good links were posted there. figured i'd post them here.

side note: justmark i got two things for you. if all the smart people on this site can be so right about earplugs maybe you should give the advice about fullfaced helmets a try.

also, i'm possibly going on a ride with the guys from that church i was talking about in wilson this saturday. they're going down to oriental (past new burn). they're planning on leaving wilson by 7:30 am. if you're interested pm me.

Just last saturday i rode to a Rocky Mount just to get out in the warm weather and did try some on. Didnt buy one but ill keep looking until i find one that feels right. Me and mrs Justmark are going to the beach this weekend so i cant make it, but i appreciate the offer. Maybe next time. Ill be sure to wave at all the bikes i see, in case its your group.

Another bonus of wearing earplugs while riding: You aren't as fatigued when you arrive as you would be without wearing earplugs.

I wish I could wear earplugs but I have a problem with wax. Many people in my family have tubes surgically installed in their ears just to avoid the buildup problem. If I wear earplugs all that happens is I get an ear infection eventually :\

That's too bad! But I do find that wearing a full face helmet is quite good even without earplugs. I only wear earplugs when riding on the highway because in town I'm not bothered by the noise.

Have you or anyone else ever used the silicone stuff? They go on the outside of your ear and are sort of sticky? I just used those this weekend when I went to a club and it seemed to dampen the sound well enough. I just hope they wouldn't stick to the inside of my helmet.

Are most people here (hear? lol) who wear earplugs also wearing full face? I'd like to try it, just wondering if we are talking about half, open or full face helmets. I've tried riding without any helmet for short distances. All I can say is wow. The noise and the wind is unbelievable, not to mention my jacked up hair. I don't know how all these people ride like that. It felt very strange.
