I've tried that in cars. It didn't work too well. Mostly because with up to 5 miles range (when the batteries are on full charge) it didn't seem to be quite enough when we got separated by traffic.

Of course, that was 10 years ago and I'm sure these things have improved - so it might be worth a shot. I'll have to look around. Oh, and if anybody other than my wife called I wouldn't pick up, but that still wouldn't stop the distraction of looking down and seeing who the hell is calling me.

Well, for my phone, it will announce who is calling, so if I have it hooked up to a BT headset, it should do the same. (I hope.)
We are looking at rider-to-rider headsets, and the new Scala G4 looked pretty promising, until one reader noted that the battery is rechargeable but not replaceable and only has a 2 year lifespan. $400+ USD is a lot of money for a 2 year deal.

FWIW, I found a pic of my V with it's tank bag:

That's with the extension zipped open and the map holder on top.

I've ran this exact set-up on Jen's Monster and my VFR for the past 5 years. It works awesome, but for anyone considering buying one I'll warn you about three things:

1) Even though it is expandable it is smaller than any other tank bag that I have. It is still good enough for the essentials.

2.) The rain cover has a plastic clamp on the drawstring that will beat the hell out of your paint before you know it.

3.) Every bike in our household has to have it's own individual clamp ring purchased and installed on the bike. This is only a concern if you use it on multiple bikes or trade your bike in for a different brand.

Even with those minor things I would still buy this set up as my first choice next time around. Twisted Throttle is excellent to deal with as well.

It looks neat MZ33 - as does your bike all curvy and stuff. Right now I've got a camera mount on my fuel tank. I could do both, just would need to find longer screws to have both. Right now the camera mount isn't really working out the way I want it to - it points wayyy too low at my instrument cluster and when I make it higher it bounces far too much. grrrrr Then, of course, the camera takes 39 minutes of video before it shuts down, and there is no way to see if you started it up again properly.

How does your camera interfere with where this would go? Also, High Side's right about the plastic tog, but I have had luck tucking it back inside the plastic cover. The velcro in high wind is probably my biggest annoyance--use the industrial grade velcro, fer pete's sake!

I didn't learn that until it was too late. It was after a hard days riding in the rain and the damage was done. Surprisingly, I haven't had any issues with the velcro.

Frankly, I'm not too happy with my camera mount, so it interfering with the pack might be moot. It mounts on to the fuel tank the same way your bag does. The camera points so low that all you can see is the fact that I'm speeding.

Um, yeah, that's not one of the things you want recorded for posterity!

hehe, I don't mind my speedo being on there, I do speed, but with the shape of the speedo it blocks the view directly in front of me (the camera's view, that is). I'll have to try again. I was unhappy with the camera in my helmet. The concern is that if I'm in an accident, then I could break my nose on the camera.

I also have problems as any camera small enough to fit in my helmet, doesn't have a view finder. So, the display screen is always on (wasting power) and always producing light (screwing with night/twilight vision). So, I don't want to do the camera in the helmet thing again.

So I'm looking for a waterproof video camera that I either can have an electronic anti-vibration or isolate the vibration from the bike. I need it to take hours of video without being futzed with and either powered from my bike or with long lasting batteries that I can charge off the bike.

There are two parallel ideas I want to focus on. I want to record entire long-distance journeys to video - then edit for a highlights of kind of thing. Then I want something to record 360 degrees around me so that if anything does happen, I'll have a good recording of the sequence of events.

There is a sony camera called a bloggie - I despise the name - but the one in Sams club comes with an adapter for 360 degree recording. But it only records 1/2 hour at a time - and I wouldn't want to futz with it every half hour.
