how do i disconnect the speedo cable from the front wheel of my 81 honda cm400?

Place the motorcycle on the centerstand, and place a support under the engine to raise the front wheel at least 2 in. off the ground.

Disconnect the speedometer cable from the brake plate after removing the phillips head set screw. (drum brake)

Disconnect the speedometer cable from the speedometer drive housing after removing the phillips head set screw. (disk brake)

I strongly advise you to get a service manual for your bike.

thanks. thats how I thought it had to be done. but the screw wasnt moved for 30 years and wasnt budging so i thought maybe i was doing it wrong! I got it done tho
