Untapered needles make me scratch my head. I have never run into such an animal before, but that don't mean much. And needles shouldn't be causing your one cyl. flooding problem either. That really should relate to the float/inlet valve not operating correctly.
No Witnesses.... :shifty:

The float needles are fine, it's the jet needles for the main jet. When it ran it ran fine with them in it's just that the more I look into the carbs cross ref'ing with the manual some things don't seem right. But yeah, my main problem right now is starting it up/ lack thereof then flooding leading me to believe the pilots are not mixing right.

I cleaned out the pilot jet and air mixture screw. I turned the mixture screw 2 360º turns out and not sure if I should go a bit more. I'm hesitant because I keep getting different info about the screw. If it's near the engine then it's fuel and air if it's near the air box. yet the manual states it's an AIR screw... it's a clymers and not a factory manual though so it could be inaccurate. Not sure what to do...

Okay the bike starts up. The catch is that the choke/ enricher cannot be used and the throttle needs to be wide open.

New Symptoms:

the left side (side with leaking carb) is running rich and the exhaust is warm and smells like gasoline a bit.

the right side is running lean with running hotter than the left. White smoke is coming from the plugs or somewhere near there. The exhaust is hotter than the left and it smells a bit like burnt oil or something unpleasant. The smoke is white but not a thick cloud just noticeable.

I sprayed the carbs with gum out and the revs picked up quite a bit when sprayed near the damn pod air filters. The thing is the filters look like they are sealed quite well. I don't wanna get a stock air box it'll cost $250. Another set of pod filters cost $130. If there's a way to restore the boots on my current filters I'm all ears.

When the bike is revved a bit the revs go up and take quite a while to go down that is if they don't continue climbing.

So with carbs being cleaned out and floats adjusted and worn parts replaced why is the carb still flooding the throat area requiring me to open throttle and leave out the choke?
