a pic would help do you mean the filter case or the drain plug? is it leaking now or just cracked? if leaking drain all the ouil then clean with brake clean get super clean grind a V nock into the crack clean again NO RESIDUE apply epoxy "oil resistant follow direction" let stand for 24 hours put in drain plug proper touque this time fill and PRAYER helps

Thankyou, I believe it is called a lower crank case. It is a mian piece that the plug screws into. All the oil poured out. Forgive my ignorance, but what is a V nock? I will work on pic.
How unheard of would it be to seal drain hole entirely and tip bike over the next time I change the oil like a lawn mower? OK, that is probably impossible for me, but I am poor so I am exploring every option.

Serious question: If I didn 't take out plug, but removed my oil filter, wouldn't all the oil run out? Could I seal the oil plug hole entirely and just change the oil by removing the filter?

Ok he means a V-Nock like a little v-shaped ditch ground into the metal along the crack with a dremel tool or something similar. Clean it off SUPER CLEAN with brake contact cleaner. Then use JB Weld to fill in the crack up to the drain hole. You will probably want to cover the whole crack even at the drain hole, but it is not possible nor a good idea to fill the drain hole and tip the bike over. After you get it filled in you will want to let it dry for a full 24 hours and then re-thread the drain hole and tighten to spec.
And no the oil sits in the bottom of the engine where the drain plug is, so it won't get but about half of your oil if you do that.

Wow, thankyou. How easy is rethreading a drain hole? How much should I expect to pay if I get a mechanic to do it? What about removing the oil filter rather than flipping the bike? The oil filter is below the drain hole.Wrider wrote:Ok he means a V-Nock like a little v-shaped ditch ground into the metal along the crack with a dremel tool or something similar. Sorry for so many questions, and thanks in advance to all.

Dude you really need to get a service manual for your bike.
