Well, generally I'm about 5-10 over, although I have been known to double/triple speed limits from time to time. In fact, I've got an upcoming court date for 24 over... Which I'm actually fairly happy about... Esp considering I was showing off for a friend and slowed down 26 MPH before I got caught... I was doing 100 in a 50 zone...

20 - 25 over (in a school zone). Ha ha. There is a joker in every pack. Fine have gone up tremendously here in CA (since the state is mostly broke). On top of fine are all kinds of administration, court, and traffic school costs. Currently (2010) fine for 16 - 25 over the limit is $331 + $100 (state penalty) + $70 (county penalty) + $50 (state court construction fund) + $20 (emergency medical fee - if needed) + $10 (background search fee) + others (because you can't have fun here son - no no that ain't no way to have fun son fee). Soooo I ride at night with my head light off. I'll fix em.
Awaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

On my recent trip to Mt Rushmore I'm sorry to say we went 85 to 95 most of the time.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

Found the limit of my new truck at 6K feet. It will only pull in 4th past about 90, got it up to 115 before I shut her down.

Re: How far Above or Below the speed limit?
Varies wildly. Generally at or below the limit in areas with pedestrians. On freeways with some traffic, I try to ride slightly faster than most of the vehicles (maybe 6-10mph above the limit), just to keep most potential threats in front of me. On relatively empty freeways, I tend to stick to the limit. Not much point in going fast in a straight line. Curves are a different matter.

Re:
you must be running with a windshield. Cruisers are notorious for not being aerodynamic especially at speed. Wind will slip around and under the windshield which is rattling your head. You may have to add some lowers on it to help with the problem as much of the turbulent stream sneaks under to interfere with the airflow.Mag7C wrote:You're crazy I say!!! I've gone just a hair over 110 on my magna 700, but I don't really enjoy going that fast. The wind buffets my head side to side 10000 times a second and I can't see straight.ZooTech wrote:I've been known to wizz past cages at 60mph over (like 125mph in a 65) when the itch hits me.125 though, that's one hell of a cruiser.
