I liked riding both with and w/out my windshield - especially when it was hot, w/out was great! However, highway riding without it was always a cheek clencher - gusts were worse and affected the ride significantly more w/out the windshield than with, and the wind on/thru my helmet tired me much more quickly without the windshield.

blues, you could have sat on a few telephone books instead of cutting down the windshield... lol
still recovering - back to crutches, then walking with a stick, then running - then hopefully riding again!

I always looked at my bike's windshield as a necessary evil. It gave me about 10 degrees worth of comfort in the cold, but since it mounted on the handlebars it adversely affected the handling and "feel" of the bike. I'd say I prefer riding without one...I like feeling the wind.

Nice to hear from you. Now that I have ridden without, I can definitely say I like a windshield for highway riding. My windshield is attached to the forks so it does not affect handling.

I could see that riding for long periods of time would be very tiring without the windshield.

It's great now. My body does not have the intense wind force on it, but my face gets the breeze.

Having a windshield also helps keep the jacket cleaner when riding in buggy areas.  On one ride drbar and I did through Manning park and back...my jacket still looked good, but my black riding pants looked almost beige from all the bugs.

I was thinking the same thing the other day when I rode with no windshield...I should have taken it off for the summer. Next year I will. It will make commuting much nicer.

Krap,Krap,Krap,Krap,Krap,

I have another fractured rib. I think it is the same one as before.
When I was in my crash, the mc handlebars impacted me in the rib cage (hard enough to bend the handlebars). Result 2 fractured ribs on my back and deep soft tissue damage on the front...During rehab I fell...landing hard on the spot that got impacted by the handebars resulting in a fractured rib on the front. It has taken so long to start feeling any strenght coming back into that area and so long to finally being less in pain....well....

Monday night I had to heft myself over the edge of the recycle bin to retrieve something I dropped in by mistake,,as I was stretched over the edge of the bin reaching way down into the bin, I felt and heard the snap.

It's been a week now....it still hurts like crazy.

I've been riding my bike to work and back but it's not comfortable. I'll be taking something to ease the discomfort tonight so I can get to sleep early enough to be able to function at work tomorrow.

I guess the right front of the torso is a weak spot now....I guess I won't be hefting myself over things like that anymore.

I did not ride this weekend. I took transit yesterday and never left my building at all today.

I spent a good portion of the day getting my computer working again.

Eish Blues, ribs are painful to fix.

When I did my leg in "96" I got some stuff from a homeopath. Can't remember what the stuff was but it was little white balls. that stuff really worked. The normal docs said I would limp for the rest of my life. The Homeo said different and gave me this stuff. Said it was for knitting the bones. Maybe worth checking out
I spent my therapy money an a K1200S
The therapy worked, I got a GS now
A touch of insanity crept back in the shape of an R1200R

Right...I'll go ask for little white balls that knit bones.... actually I can go the big natural pharmacy and ask them....

wrider...never in a million years did I imagine I'd fracture a rib....I guess that's a weak spot now...

I went to the emergency at the hospital for an x-ray...but I parked my motorcycle a block away and left my gear locked to the bike. I'm sure it would not have looked good to see me riding away from the hospital parking lot.

Actually, the healed bone is probably stronger than the part that was never broken. I would seriously consider getting a bone density check-up...

I had a scan a couple of weeks ago....Waiting for results. I'll get that when I go follow up about the fracture.
