Is this an option for the Draggin Jeans? Are they comfortable when walking around?
Draggin Jeans are comfortable but they are warm. If you are going to be like, riding somewhere then playing sports or going for a long walk in the sun I wouldn't recommend them. They are fantastic in the fall and winter months for pretty much any activity.
The Hook and Loop Knee Pads are an option you can order from the Draggin site unless things have changed. Hook and Loop is velcro basically but these pads have a very heavy duty version of it.
I have two pairs of draggin jeans - with the velcro knee and hip pads. The velcro stays in place well, and when i had my accident in july, they had a really hard time cutting the draggins off of me. I do also agree that they are fairly warm as jeans go. I'm fairly certain that NO kind of armor would have prevented my leg/ankle breaks in the accident.

Yeah a pocket that opens and closes via velcro would be more ideal than a permanently mounted armor.
So I wore my Fox MX knee/shin guards under my Icon Super Duty Cargo Pants. It actually fit very well under the very baggy cut of the Super Duty pants. And since I have pretty thick legs, it didn't ever look like I was wearing those guards. I rode around for a few hours, stopped to get something to eat, walked around, and it felt good and I was quite comfortable. This will probably be the choice for when I go to class. I am still going to look into the Draggin or the Alpinestar jeans/cargo pants with armor however.
Haven't bought any myself yet but I've been thinking about getting a pair for my wife (she's 4'11" and it's impossible to find any off-the-rack armored pants that'll fit her).
They aren't cheap but they're custom made so you know they'll fit.
+1 on Aussie Draggin jeans (with armor). I've got a black pair in their "classic" cut, and they don't look like motorcycle pants at all. I still have my doubts about how tough they'll be in a crash (even a low-speed one), but they'll do for the regular commute. I'm still on the lookout for perforated leather pants that are cut like jeans and don't look like half of a two-piece racing suit (but that's another thread altogether).

even the unarmored jeans work better than nothing, a guy on another site I post on recently "tested" his icon riding jeans in a bike vs deer collision. the jeans worked fine he only got a little bit of road rash just outside of the kevlar material, he got worse rash from where his jacket rode up but he still got out of that bike vs deer (totaled his bike) with a little rash and a sprained ankle. It was not a low speed crash he was doing about 50mph when the deer jumped out in front of him.
