..... Pipes filled with water are run down into the ground and the heated water is pumped back up into the walls and foundations of the buildings. Free constant heat. I wish we could get something like that up here in Canada. But it would probably just melt the sides of my igloo.

Geo-thermal heat/cooling is here, Sev. Works well, all you need is a temp difference of a few degrees between the constant underground temp and the outside ambiant temp above ground. Drawback is cost to set up, between drilling down deep enough and the equipment needed to make it operate, an average house in Alberta runs about $25-40,000 to set-up and equipe.

Hydro solar heating works on the same prinicple for a fraction of the cost .
