Building a Shed for me and my Lady need advice

#1 Unread post by Brackstone »

Hey All,

Well recently my wife and I purchased a home. We are very happy but the house requires a lot of work. One of things this house requires is a shed for my motorcycle and her future bike. This brings up a few questions and I was hoping everyone could offer some advice.

I'm thinking I need to put my bike, her future bike (something sporty), my lawn mower, and a snow blower in this shed. I'd like to try to keep them separated somewhat as not to run the risk of something damaging my bikes. I'm not planning on storing my helmets, jackets, etc. in there.

Dimension Suggestions? Good place to find plans? Is there anything special I should be putting in there for the bikes? Special Floor? Reinforce something? Anything?

I've got about 1/4 Acre of property.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Spare bed, beer fridge, sink, toilet (or large tree nearby outside), stereo and a small microwave suitable for heating burritos or conducting "Hey, what if we..." experiments. And put Batman sheets on the bed, please.

If I put Batman sheets on the bed my wife will take the shed from me. She loves batman.

She's supposed to love you.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

Be careful that may become your new home if you make it too roomy.

There are a lot of companies around here in NYS that sell and deliver
sheds. 8 x 16 should be adequate and inexpensive, if its just those 4
pieces. Go too big and you will stuff a lot more 'stuff' into it.

Thanks pchast. I'll keep those dimensions in mind.

Do you have price quotes? usually when I see sheds for sale I see them charging upwards of $3k, which is why I'm looking to build it on my own.
