You guys are awesome in helping me decide on a "RIDE" but now I have another wrench to throw into the fire. I have been asking you all which bike a C-50 or S-50. Some of you even like the M-50 rather than the others. I know it is a smaller bike but since I am a new rider, what do you think of the Yamaha V Star 650 Custom? Is it too small, would I want a "bigger" one later?
I mention the custom because the classic has floorboards which I do not care for. It does have shaft drive and a little cheaper than the oters...
I guess it is individual preference as to which you like better. I have a V Star 650 Custom and really like it. I like the size, style, and performance---has plenty of power and speed for what I need. I personally wont be needing anything bigger.
Thanks alot. I don't want to have to get another bike either. I am short . Is the seat height OK for you and what about the wieght does it seem heavy when just sitting? Some feel heavy for me. I know heavy is only relative if you are not moving but somehow I feel intimidated by a heavy bike
You're asking fitment and ergo questions, we cannot answer these, only you can answer these. Go to the store and sit on the bikes, find the one that you like best.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.
It's a great bike, my friend has one, an '01 in bright yellow. He does 2 up with it all the time, and it'll keep up with anything in the cruiser class...

After 30 years away from motorcycles my choice was the V Star Classic; I have a short inseam and the seat height is a non issue. The Bike does have more power than I have heard others say. I cruise at 75 with no problems and my only complaint is the vibration on the bars. I guess the one shock I was not prepared for was the cost of service; so if you can do it yourself you will save your dollars for other things. Besides that you are not at the mercy of the dealer to work on your bike when they have the time, it's not fun to leave your bike at the dealer all day when you could be riding.. All in all in the past 8 months I have had the bike I have put on a trouble free 8,000 miles...
Seat height is excellent---(I am 5'8"). Weight hasnt been a factor---and I am not a big guy. I like mine, but I am sure there are alot of nice bikes out there. You just have to look, do your homework, and pick the one that comes closest to matching the items that are most important to you. Good Luck!
I have a friend who took the bike course with me who has that bike. She's a grandma and weighs about 130 lbs, so you should have no problem coping with the weight.
