I really do think it's a rider's choice. Same goes with wearing a helmet although you rarely would catch me without one. ha I won't dare use it if there is a considerable amount of traffic around me. It's more a hit or miss thing with me when I decide to use it. Once while out and about I had used it for a considerable amount of time. I enjoyed my tunes but decided to turn it off. I couldn't believe how much more I was "INTO" the ride than before with my favorite tunes. I thought the music would most certainly enhence the ride but it was just the opposite. Don't get me wrong I still listen to my music but I think in spite of it, for the most part, something is yet taken away from the realness of the ride.

I wear a pair of Shure in-ear headphones that are noise canceling, and I play music quietly. I can still hear traffic and I can hear other's conversations when they're all noisy in cars next to me, so it can't be too loud.
