Like I said. I believe that people who feel that they need the security should be able to own firearms. I don't feel like I need one. I could always change my mind. There's plenty of gang activity in Seattle but we don't seem to cross paths. Even if I saw someone stealing my car out of my driveway I don't think I'd shoot them - it's just not worth that to me. If I saw some dead and bloody 14 year old slumped over the steering wheel after I shot him I think that would haunt me worse than having to deal with the insurance co. send me a check to get a new one. I care about my property and I secure it to the point I can... but it ain't worth killing for.

I saw a couple posts on here from folks who ride a bike every day but don't wear a helmet, yet they pack a gun for 'safety'. That is a very bizarre dichotomy to me given that their chances for having a bike accident are far greater statistically than being shot by a stranger. There's no law that we have to use logic I suppose.

I have always been interested in owning a firearm. I just really have not pursued it. I have fired weapons before ranging from a saturday night special to an MP5. Any guys out there that can help me exercise my 2nd amendment right?

I am raising three small children by myself in 2005, cb360, that's all you need to know. I go helmetless for pleasure, and I pack heat because of all the child-molestors I hear about on the news these days. A gun is a tool, just like any other, and I want to have the right tool for the job should "the job" ever come knockin' uninvited.

The more reason to ALWAYS pack! You see them more often and are in greater danger

Talk about a good reason to wear a helmet... but hey, to each their own. Different strokes for different folks. We just think differently Zootech - I think if I had kids, I'd be even less likely to pack. But that's me - I want kids even less than I want a gun in the house so it's not really an issue! I don't want to take away your guns or make you wear a helmet, just pointing out the dichotomy.

Now that's a good point. My mom has been acting a little touchy lately.

True...but it's my only vice...and far better than most I can think of, so I'll tell you what I tell my parents...cut me some slack!

Yes, but I'm the son of a cop. I grew up with loaded guns laying around in every room of the house. It's just not a big deal to me. And don't misunderstand, my gun is out of reach and my kids are aware I have it, and have been educated about what it can and will do.

Yeah, I have a lot of family members who are in a gang...who knows when I'll have to cap one of their punk arses!

Sounds good to me. That gun can't hurt kids if it's handled properly. It isn't your parents you have to worry about on the helmet... in a few years the kids (who are all riding mean streaks at 13) are gonna be asking "how come you make us wear a helmet but you don't have to."

Hand grenades are the best defense, and make excellent anti-theft devices, too. :)

Indeed. My dad sold his beloved Harley FLHTC when I was fifteen. I didn't know the reason at the time, but have since learned that he did it so I wouldn't become interested in riding. Funny thing is, he prolly coulda held onto it since I ended up marrying young and the [now] ex-wife would never let me buy a bike!
