Do you get sentimental when you sell a bike

#1 Unread post by sapaul »

I bought an R850R that looked like "poo poo", brought into the daylight with a respray, fixed all the things that needed fixing, had 2 great tours on it with my wife and kids, had loads of fun.

Now because I WANT A NEW ONE, I have to let this R850R go. I have a man that has paid me money into my account, am just waiting for it to clear, then it's one last wash and polish ......

I spent my therapy money an a K1200S
The therapy worked, I got a GS now
A touch of insanity crept back in the shape of an R1200R

I haven't sold a bike yet, but when I sold my truck in April the buyer asked me if I wanted to give it one last hug before he left. I told him, I just might! ;)

Hope the new one gives you as much joy as the old...

My courier bikes? Not so much, trading them in a getting a new mount was sort of like putting down a worn out plough horse and getting a new one. Selling my GPz1100 for tuition, now that did bring tears to my eyes, especially when part of the deal included a slightly used CM400. That was like going from riding a fine Arabian to mounting a donkey....a letharic and animic donkey at that.
Always ask why.

I miss all my old bikes. Insult to injury is when the jerk that took it sends me a picture of him riding it having fun without me.

LOL did you have all the regular issues such as the swelling tank, bad regulator, horrific fueling, etc? A shame too as the bike looks terrific and it is supposed to be a blast to ride.

I didn't own it long enough to experience the swelling tank (although I have a spare in the garage), or the bad regulator, but yes the fueling was horrific, but it was nowhere near as bad as the suspension. If I didn't own another excellent Ducati at the time I would have written off the brand as garbage.....because that is exactly what the GT1000 is.

It did get comments from everyone who saw it regarding how great looking it was though. I need more than that to love a motorcycle.
