Coils test properly, but no spark! Please help.

I bought a 2002 Suzuki Katana 600 on Friday and rode it all day. When I went to start it Saturday evening, it would try to turn over, but would not start. After testing random parts, I noticed the plugs aren't getting any fire. The coils are working properly as far as I can tell, but beyond that, nothing. Any suggestions?

Are any of your plugs sparking?

No. I tried 3 out of 4 of them just to make sure it wasn't the coils.

Is the kill switch (right hand switchgear) turned off.

If it's not the kill switch you'll want to check to make sure your cam or crank position sensor is working correctly. If it's not that it's your ECM.

The kill switch is in the correct position. I think I've narrowed it down to a certain part, but it seems to have several different names as far as I can tell. Is the ECM, CDI, and signal generator the same? Thats the only thing that I can't seem to test because nobody can tell me how to. I just can't figure out how it went out all of a sudden.

Yes it's all the same, and that's because there is no test for it. If all of the inputs work and none of the outputs work but test properly, it's the problem.

Well, I got the CDI in the mail and it's not the problem. I looked in the book and there's a part that is called a diode. It looks just like a relay (I'm pretty sure that's all it is) but I don't know how to search for it to get a relacement. It's a little black box with 7 prongs. I tested it, and I am not getting anything out of it. Does anyone know if this part could be causing my problems? It's hard to explain, but the book says that it is for the turn signals and the side stand switch, in one relay. If this part were truly bad, the starter/motor wouldn't be trying to turn over, because it points out that the sidestand switch is getting power, right?
