bike dies when I give throttle

#1 Unread post by srosebrock »

I have a kawasaki kz440 that starts up great and idles smoothly, but when I give it any throttle, it dies. I have taken the carbs apart a few times and cleaned them and they seem very clean, so I don't know if that is it. Can anyone give me some troubleshooting tips?

What altitude are you at? What are the stock jet sizes? What jet sizes do you have in there? Aftermarket exhaust? Intake modification such as an airbox mod or cone filters?

No modifications that I know of, everything on the bike looks like stock. I replaced the air filter with one I bought off of bike bandit. I do not know actually if the jets are stock size, I did not check them against the service manual when I had them out. I have to pull them again to check the float level, I will check them then.
