Question about my first service
Well my bike has 300km on the clock and I have to get it serviced now. I can only get it serviced next week so my question is how much more can I ride my bike? Is it save to ride it after 300km without a service or oil change?

Re: Question about my first service
It's fine. Just keep riding it like you have been, and get it changed ASAP, and it'll be just fine.

Re: Question about my first service
So would it be able to do another 60km?

Re: Question about my first service
What's the maximum distance that I could go? Would my bike handle another say 170km? The reason I'm asking is because I can only service my bike next week but I want to go someplace this weekend.

Re: Question about my first service
I wouldn't ride it that much. Just get it done ASAP. If nothing else, change your own oil and then go on your weekend jaunt. Then go in for the service so they can doublecheck everything, and get your oil changed again.

Re: Question about my first service
The first service is at 300km? That's unusually early. Usually most bikes are 600 miles or 1000km. What is actually required at the 300km service? If you tell us that, Wrider or I might be able to give you better advice.

Re: Question about my first service
Sounds like it's just an oil change based on the FAQ at http://www.motomia.com/MotomiaFAQ.htm
Pay particular attention to this answer from the FAQ cited above (the emphasis on the last sentence is mine):
When should I have the first service done?
So, while I agree with the others that it is not a big issue to continue riding, be aware that you may be jeopardizing your warranty
Pay particular attention to this answer from the FAQ cited above (the emphasis on the last sentence is mine):
When should I have the first service done?
- After travelling 300km. The first service is the most important. It is during the first few hours of operation that the engine wears in and small amounts of metal debris are deposited into the oil. The oil works hard at this time and needs to be changed. Please make sure that you have the service done on time as it will affect your warranty.
