Registration of CBF 1000 and Varadero 1000 XLV in Virginia

#1 Unread post by peterlaser »

Hi Everyone,
we have just arrived in Virginia and we intend to ship our Bikes from Germany into US. However, just noticed these Models are not sold in the US !
Has anybody ever had the experience of going through the process of registering one of these bikes in Virginia ?
Thanks a lot for helping !
Ride safe
Ute & Peter

Hello and welcome to the forum and USA. If you make it to Kansas City, I can hook you up with some good BBQ. I think those bikes haven't passed EPA tests. You might be able to get temporary tags, you may have better luck trying to use your own tag.

Hi and welcome!

Congratulations on the big move, I hope you like it out west. I've visited Germany a couple of times and have really liked it, can't wait to back really!

Good luck with the importing of the bikes.

Hi Andrea,
thanks for the welcome. Where in Germany ? If you want to do good biking try the black forest area. And you can just hop over into the alpes. the long and winding road ... ! Fun unlimited.
I let all of you know when the bikes are rolling. We will most certainly take them to as many destinations as possible in US !
Ride safe and ticketless !
Cheers
Peter :kicking:

Yeah, Virginia may not have an EPA, but the federal government does and any motorcycles manufactured after (I think) 1974 has to meet federal guidelines.

I checked with DMV in Virginia and they were stressing that motorcycles are exempted from EPA testing. Wish us luck ! :starwars:
