Re: More crappy news
Wow. Just wow. Watched it twice, then read the comments in the linked forum. Yea, tough to watch, knowing the forces involved at that speed.
If you watch the flying/spinning helmet, you can see the chin strap flying straight uncut. Watched again... the strap looks too long to be just the unbuckled end. Looks like the strap is still buckled. The force it took to pull the strap from the helmet.
I found another video (motogp site). It looks like Simoncelli over-shifted his weight, losing contact with the left footpeg as well as control of his bike. His right shoulder was on the ground as he slid across the track in front of Edwards and Rossi. Amazing that Rossi was able to maintain control after hitting Edwards'.

Re: More crappy news
Of all the racers that have died in my years of watching racing this one has hit me the hardest. I really liked Marco.

Lion Lady I believe you are correct with the helmet strap I looked at it with a magnifying glass and it truly appears the strap is buckled and ripped from it's anchor.
Rayian I liked what the others racers said about him more than I knew of him if I am saying this right? The thing that hits me like a macabre STONE is my oldest is the same age as he was and I can't even bear the thought my prayers go out to his family and all involved.
