stupid cagers! hit by a car.

#1 Unread post by VermilionX »

not on my sportbike but on my roadbike (pedal bike)

left turner went full speed, totally didn't see me coming. clipped my rear wheel lost control, hit the curb went flying a few feet. elbow and wrist took the most damage on me.

my bicycle thankfully has most parts still usable. i wasn't ready to shell out another 1800$ for a new bike. ended up only needing to replace the rear derailleur hanger, having my wheels trued, and a helmet.

me on the other hand... recovery was smooth on the 1st 3 days but im still not able to put too much pressure on using my right hand.

here's the more depressing part for me... i lost the culprit's info. it didn't save on my phone. should have called the cops, should have let her take me to the hospital etc. but my adrenaline was in full force and i was still in shock and disbelief that i wasn't thinking very straight so i didn't handle things properly.

so it was a huge relief for me that i won't be eating too much of the cost of repairs to both me and the bike.

right now, im just looking to stay positive since i could have died or been crippled.

Think back to what you did right after you got home, and chances are the info is somewhere you left it right after the incident.
Sorry to hear you got hit...

Thanks guys.

Really glad that things were not worse, now do yourself a favour, sell the bike, get a decent motrbike and do long distance touring. It's cheaper, keeps you fitter and you meet the most interesting people. Far safer than a "bike"
I spent my therapy money an a K1200S
The therapy worked, I got a GS now
A touch of insanity crept back in the shape of an R1200R

Yeah. Right handed.

It's making progress. Everyday im able to put more pressure on it with less pain than before. Im estimating next week should make it fully usable.

And nope, i do not want a touring bike. Designs aside, those things are too heavy for me.
