Nope, got the cotter pin in it. Since I'm about as mechnically inclined a a stapler, I figure I should follow the rules when they are spelled out for me.
The faster the bike I get, the less of a coffin I'm gonna need, more like a ziplock bag.

After that many miles I would also consider cleaning the chain...go for a 30min ride to warm up the chain...use some kerosene and an old tooth brush...dip the tooth brush in the kerosene and scrub away the grim...when you are done, give the chain a wipe...then lube it...the chain will last longer and you will be less of a "stapler" sooner than you think...bikes are nice and easy to work on...

To keep the axle straight...measure from the end of the swing arm to the center of the axle on both sides, same measurement should be decently straight...

Kerosene, eh? I can do that. Thanks for the info. This sounds like another project for my list this weekend. The ER-6n actually has dashes along the swingarm(?) that help with alignment. Those dashes and a ruler are what I used to make sure I had it right. I just need to get the wife's toothbrush now. muhahahaha

The marks on the swing arm will work. Kerosene won't dry out the o-rings in the chain...just make sure you don't use anything that has degreaser in it...the o-rings will swell and the chain will seize...not good!!

So, what do you know about lithium grease then? Is it a bad thing?

Lithium should be okay...better than not lubing at all...I've even heard of guys using old engine oil (can't imagine how messy that would get...kinda thin) I use Castrol Chain Lube, but any lube is fine...just make sure they're for o-ring chains

My father uses white Lithium grease on the chains for his garage door. His mind-set was they are both chains, not something I agreed with but what am I to do, he's my pops.
